Pierre Laurent
Pierre LAURENT was born around 1674 in France and is one of the numerous roots of ST-LAURENT families. His origin is Saint-Laurent parish, Périgueux, south west of France. He's the son of Etienne Laurent and Marguerite Viger, who never came in Canada. We don't know exactly when he arrived in Québec. He left to Rimouski in 1696, at the beginning of this Seigneurie. He got married on the January, 12th 1699 (25 years old) in St-François, Ile d'Orléans with Constance GUERINET. Pierre, their first child was born in St-François, Ile d'Orléans. Their next nine children were all born in Rimouski.

On the August 13th 1705, Pierre Laurent, living in Rimouski, sold for 200 pounds to Joseph Lepage a land in Ile d'Orléans. This land was inherited by his wife from her mother, Constance Lepage.
His descendants are found in a great part in Rimouski and Trois-Pistoles areas, and also later in Matane and Gaspesie.
Rimouski Seigneurie
Rimouski Seigneurie (or St-Barnabé) has been obtained by René Lepage by an exchange with Sieur de la Cardonnière on the July 10th 1694, against a land he had in Ile d'Orléans. Confirmation of this concession was on January 27th 1696. It's described as follow:
Two leagues on the -St-Lawrence- river, two leagues inland, one side on the Bic Seigneurie, this other side on non conceeded lands.
Immigration to USA
Some Pierre Laurent's descendants have migrated to USA around years 1870. We found some of them in Massachusetts (New Bedford and Fall River areas) and New Hampshire (Manchester). We expect to find some others in New England states. They moved for job, especially in textile mills.
We can have some information in Quebec City, but of course it's not complete. We are interested by all information which could help us consolidating our data.
